CLINICAL & MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY

Medical laboratory technicians collect samples and perform tests to analyze body fluids, tissue, and other substances. Most medical laboratory technicians are employed in hospitals. Others work in doctors’ offices or diagnostic laboratories. Clinical laboratory science professionals discover the presence or absence of disease and provide data that helps physicians determine the best treatment for a patient. Although they are not often personally involved with patients, laboratory technicians play a crucial role in the process of providing personalized care. They generate vitally important data for identifying and treating cancer, heart disease, diabetes and many other health conditions.
