RADIOLOGIC TECHNOLOGY

Health care professionals use many types of equipment to diagnose patients. Radiologic technologists specialize in x-ray and computer imaging. They are responsible for accurately positioning patients and ensuring that a quality diagnostic image is produced. They work closely with physicians who then interpret the images to rule out disease or injury. Technologists may be certified in multiple specialties. MRI technologists specialize in magnetic resonance imaging scanners. By using noninvasive magnetic fields, detailed images of various parts of the body are produced. Radiologic and MRI technologists work in health care facilities, and more than half work in hospitals. A career in radiologic technology offers a promising future since, as technology advances and the population ages, the demand for radiologic exams and procedures has grown.
